The Hottest Cell Phones to hit in 2011

At times, the smartphone market seems more volatile than the computer market. Within six months of purchase, your top-of-the-line smartphone can seem obsolete. With that in mind here are some of the most anticipated smart phone releases of 2011. By far the most anticipated launch is the Verizon iPhone, which is set to launch on February 10, 2011 at $199. With the long awaited announcement made at CES 2011 Verizon will finally add the Apple juggernaut to its arsenal of smartphones. This launch is being touted as the marriage between reliability and cool. Since Verizon already slightly edges out AT&T in terms of total subscribers it seems they are now poised to trounce At&T and the other carriers. A whopping one out of four AT&T subscribers report that they plan to leave AT&T for Verizon and 41 percent of those plan to do it within the first three months.

Another smart phone that has just been announced is Dell’s newest Android. While previously only available in India it is slated to come stateside by the middle of 2011. The Venue will be sold unlocked but a price or exact sell date has not been announced. The Venue is a 4.1 inch touchscreen which offers an 8 megapixel camera, 512 ram and an microSD card slot. It also offer GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and runs on Android 2.2 software.

Launched at CES 2011 the Motorola Atrix is not trying to be the hottest new smart phone it also is trying to lay claim as the hottest new laptop. Using NVIDA’s dual-core Tegra 2 chip it allows the phone to run multiple operating systems, including Google Android 2.2 and a customized version of Linux. The phone allows for 802.11n wireless networking, 1GB Ram, 16 GB storage space and a microSD slot not to mention HSPA+ 4GB capabilities. Another added bonus is the one of the three apps used by Linux is Firefox which supports plug-ins such as Flash.
